1. General
1.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by LH Plumbing and Heating ("the Company"). By engaging the Company, the client agrees to these terms. 1.2 The Company reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The latest version will be available upon request.
1.3 By accepting an estimate, paying a deposit, or making a booking, you agree to these terms and
conditions.
2. Services Provided
2.1 The Company offers residential plumbing and heating services, including but not limited to:
- Bathroom renovations
- Full heating system renovations
- Boiler and cylinder installations
- Wet underfloor heating planning and installation
- Air source heat pump installation
- Gas boiler and gas fire servicing
- Landlord safety certification
- Heating system powerflush or cleanse
- General plumbing repairs and maintenance
- Emergency repairs
2.2 Services are provided subject to availability and at the Companyâs discretion.
3. Estimates, Pricing, and Hourly Rates
3.1 All non-contracted work is subject to a minimum charge of one (1) hour. Labour is charged in hourly increments, meaning that if a job takes one and a half hours, two hours will be charged at the current hourly rate.
3.2 Time spent purchasing materials not stocked by the Company is chargeable at the current hourly rate.
3.3 Estimates are provided free of charge and are valid for one (1) month. However, all estimates are subject to change due to fluctuations in material costs or unforeseen work requirements.
3.4 A 10% labour deposit is required to accept an estimate and book the project. The deposit may be transferred to a rescheduled date if at least two (2) weeksâ notice is given. The company reserves the right to recover any reasonable losses should the project not go ahead.
3.5 Estimated material costs must be paid two (2) weeks before project commencement to allow for delivery times. These estimates are for guidance only and may not be exhaustive.
3.6 If changes to the job scope occur or unforeseen work is required, additional charges will apply. Any amendments will be discussed and agreed upon before proceeding.
3.7 VAT is added to all work carried out by the Company at the current rate.
3.8 If mains water and electricity are not accessible and are needed for the work, additional charges may apply.
4. Payments and Invoicing
4.1 The preferred payment method is bank transfer, although cash, card, and cheque payments are also accepted. Deposit payments made by credit card are protected.
4.2 Standard invoices must be paid within three (3) days of issuance. For project work, payments follow this schedule:
- 10% labour deposit is required upon estimate acceptance. If paid by credit card, your deposit is protected.
- Material costs due two (2) weeks before project commencement
- 30% of labour costs after first fix (due upon invoice receipt)
- 30% of labour costs after completion of external trades work (due upon invoice receipt)
- 30% of labour costs, plus any additional incurred costs, are due upon satisfactory completion
4.3 Work will cease until payment has been received in full for any outstanding invoices. Delays to the project may occur if payment isn't received at the completion of each phase as laid out above.
4.4 The Company reserves the right to charge interest on late payments at the current Bank of England interest rate.
4.5 No certificates or guarantees will be issued until full payment has been received.
5. Cancellations and Delays
5.1 Cancellations must be made with at least one (1) weekâs notice or, for project work, two (2) weeksâ notice. If cancelled after this period, the Company reserves the right to charge for the appointment.
5.2 If the Company is unable to access the property at the agreed appointment time, the appointment is chargeable.
5.3 Deposits for a project may be transferred if at least two (2) weeksâ notice is given. Should the project be cancelled, the company reserves the right to recover all reasonable losses.
5.4 If materials have been specially ordered for a project, their costs remain chargeable even in the event of a cancellation.
5.5 The Company is not liable for delays due to factors beyond its control, including but not limited to extreme weather, supplier delays, unforeseen defects, material shortages, or equipment failures. In such cases, revised timelines will be discussed with the client.
6. Guarantees and Liability
6.1 The Company guarantees workmanship for one (1) year from the completion date.
6.2 Products supplied by the Company are covered under manufacturer warranties, and any claims must be made in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
6.3 Products supplied by the client are not covered under the Companyâs warranty. Any faults arising from such products are the clientâs responsibility to resolve with the manufacturer.
6.4 Any guarantees or warranties are null and void if there are signs of improper use or if the client has not followed the advice of the Company.
6.5 The Company does not guarantee any work in respect of blockages in waste and drainage systems.
6.6 Where the Company agrees to carry out works on installations of inferior quality or over ten (10) years old at the date of service, no warranty is given in respect of such works, and the Company accepts no liability for the effectiveness of such works.
6.7 The Company has public liability cover for any accidental damage or faulty workmanship. The Company will always attempt to remediate issues before an insurance claim is pursued.
6.8 This does not affect your rights under the Consumer Rights Act or any other consumer legislation.
7. Emergency Call-Outs
7.1 Emergency out-of-hour call-outs are charged at a higher rate than the standard call-out fee. Out-of-hours services are outside of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and are charged on an hourly basis.
8. Customer Responsibilities
8.1 Customers are responsible for ensuring access to the property where work is due to be carried out.
8.2 The work area must be clear before the Company arrives on site. Failure to do so may result in additional charges.
8.3 If a job cannot be completed due to a customer-related issue, the appointment is still chargeable.
9. Privacy and Data Protection
9.1 Customer data is only shared with employees of the Company and any subcontracted trades required to complete the works.
9.2 The client gives permission for the Company to use any photos taken before and after works have been completed for marketing purposes unless otherwise advised by the client in writing.
10. Governing Law
10.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by UK law.
